1 oz of fresh spicebush berries!
Spicebush (Lindera benzoin) is a native perennial shrub that grows in the woods here in NE Ohio. Also known as Appalachian Allspice, it has a great orange zest/black pepper/resinous taste. It can be used fresh to create bitters, flavor sugar, or to cook down with a roast or other protein. Whatever you don't use fresh can be dried and ground to use as a baking spice (it's especially good with pumpkin pie flavors)!
All of my products are foraged in Northeast Ohio using sustainable and ethical methods. Everything you see here are the same ingredients I eat daily and feed to my friends and family. You can see more of what and where I forage on my instagram @tannenbaumwildfoods.
