Another treat from the North Woods, pineapple weed (wild chamomile) tincture. This was made for you ladies out there who suffer from bloating and cramps.
The pineapple weed was growing right here on my property, so I was able to groom and care for it throughout the growing season. I harvested it just before the bloom to ensure all of the oils were still intact. After harvesting it was rinsed and dehydrated. Over the winter I infused a pint of the dried pineapple weed. The result was a beautiful green tincture.
Pineapple weed is used for a lot of different ailments, but I used the entire plant rather than just blossoms for the tincture. The reason I chose to use the greens was simple, it adds the benefits of bloating and cramping relief. I have several friends and family members that struggle with really bad cramping and bloating and I wanted to give them some relief.
Dosing differs from person to person. I always tell people to start with 1-3 drops at bedtime for a couple of days just to make sure they tolerate it well (being a wild plant some people may have allergies that they are unaware of). An extra little bonus of pineapple weed is that it has a mild sedative effect so bedtime is the perfect time to give it a try! Once tolerated you can adjust the dose according to your body's needs. It can be used up to 4x daily but most people have relief with only 2 doses.
