Hydrophyllum virginianum or commonly called Virginia waterleaf a species of plant in the borage family. The name waterleaf comes from the "watermark" lighter green spots on some varieties of the plant. This spring ephemeral has a light nutty flavor, and goes well in salads, soups, sautéed or as a garnish.
