Creosote is the smell of desert rain.

Wild foraged in the Mojave Desert, near Pacific Crest Trail in California. 

Creosote displays varying characteristics throughout the seasons. In spring and summer, it features green leaves, flowers, white fluffy fruits, and sticky resin. In winter, the plant remains green to greenish-yellow, with less resin on leaves and occasional fluffy fruits.

Creosote is one of the oldest plants on the the planet. It has been used for thousands of years for it's healing properties. Average lifespan of the Creosote Bush is 1,250 years. The oldest known plant is 9,500 years old in Johnson Valley.

How to use your Creosote:
- Make your own salve, lotions, oil extract, tinctures, ext.
- Use it to make tea
- Hang in your shower and the steam will activate the oils in the creosote and create the scent of desert rain. Lasts 4 to 6 weeks.
- You can also use this bundle to burn for smudging

Creosote bush has been highly valued for its medicinal properties by desert peoples. Twigs and leaves may be boiled as tea, steamed, pounded into a powder, pressed into a poultice, or heated into an infusion. Native Americans used Creosote to treat aches and pains of both the joints and muscles. The Diegueno, the Cahuilla, the Pima, the Papago, and the Yavapai all claimed that creosote had anti-inflammatory, analgesic qualities. Application varies from bathing in a decoction of the leaves to applying a poultice to the sore area

Recipe for DIY Pine Cleaner
Natural Pine DIY Cleaning Spray: Healthy Non toxic Cleaning Solution

Fill jar full with the wild Single-leaf Pinyon Pine needles
1 ½ cups of white distilled vinegar
1 ¼  cups water
¼ cup rubbing alcohol
large glass jar
16 oz. spray bottle

Instructions:

1. Fill jar withe the wild pine needles.
2. Remove needles from woody branches and pack tightly into a large glass jar.
3. Pour vinegar into the jar and place in a sunny window for 7 days. During this time the vinegar will extract the oils and anti-microbial properties of pine into the vinegar. 
4. After 7 days remove all plant material from the vinegar by straining it out. 
5. Fill a 16 oz. spray bottle half full with the wild pine vinegar extraction solution.
6. Add ¼ cup rubbing alcohol to the spray bottle, then fill the remainder of the bottle with wate

Brew and serve hot or cold to enjoy the benefits of this refreshing and invigorating tea. Or use in balms, salves, candles, & tinctures.

Indians chewed and swallowed the needles of the Pinyon Pine Tree as medicine for the cure of syphilis.

Used frequently as a tea made of the twigs & needles.

Native American tribes would eat the inner bark of the Pine as a food source when all other food was scarce. The Iroquois would use the resin from this plant, while mixing it with beeswax, to seal their canoes. Other Native Americans would boil the bark and then apply the liquid to wounds.

Directions for Tea:
Chop the needles lightly, and put into a sieve. Pour boiling water over them, or boil them in water and strain. Let steep for at least 51 10 minutes, covered.

More Uses:
Make a salve with olive oil, coconut oil, beeswax, & Pine needles. Pine salve helps treat dry skin, sores, skin infections, minor cuts, sunburns, insect bites and a variety of other skin conditions. The scent of the cream is said to have healing powers as well. The cream can be used for massaging cream for relaxation or a rub for aching and sore muscles
