BeeFavored’s Buckwheat Honey is crafted from the nectar of tiny, delicate white blossoms of the buckwheat plant—a naturally gluten-free crop distinct from wheat.
While we don’t claim to be buckwheat experts, we’ve grown it on our rooftop as a green manure crop and natural weed suppressor, alongside other bee-friendly pollinator plants. One side of our hives showed a particular affinity for the delicate buckwheat flowers, which bloom rapidly in just 20 days. This quick cycle not only makes buckwheat an efficient plant but also allows it to outcompete and suppress even the most persistent perennial weeds—all while adding beauty to the space.
Known for its rich, robust flavor with molasses-like depth, BeeFavored’s Buckwheat Honey is one of the boldest varieties and its intense taste makes it a perfect substitute for brown sugar in recipes or a savory glaze for fish and pork.
We source our buckwheat plants, seeds, and shrubs from trusted suppliers like Eden Brothers, Azure Market Organic, and Garden Goods Direct, and of course local farmer's market. Among the species we grew are Silverhull Buckwheat and Fagopyrum esculentum.
Exceptionally dark and packed with higher antioxidant levels than most honeys, our buckwheat honey offers a unique flavor and a host of health benefits according research. We are not experts in the health benefits.
