Calendula is a small flowering herbaceous plant that grows to 3’ in height and 2’ wide. It produces bright orange flowers that are about 2” in diameter.
The flowers are used in medicinal formulas to treat various ailments of the skin, type II diabetes and regulate metabolism. Its constituents are generally extracted in tinctures and skin care products but can also be drunk as tea.
As plants, Calendula is grown as an annual in most climates but can be grown as a perennial in USDA zones 9-11 or overwintered in cold climates indoors/inside a greenhouse and do great in containers. Frost will kill them. They require full sun (6-8 hours).
