i grew this calendula from strictly medicinal's seeds
i slowly harvested them throughout their peek season as they bloomed.
i tinctured both flower tops and clean stem + leaves in vodka

calendula is an important ingredient in my all purpose healing salve and is famously good for mending external abrasions and bruises. it's also excellent + very reliable for weepy, irritated skin conditions like eczema. it is also in my winter detox tincture (calendula, yarrow, burdock + dandelion) because it is a warming herb that stimulates lymph to drain. if you grow calendula at home you might notice that it lasts for most of the winter, looking pretty good even under the snow. a true herb of the sun!

on top of being great for draining lymph, it's quite reliable as an antibacterial, antiviral + antifungal. i love to use it for fungal issues that don't want to clear up (see also bee balm) even in modern scientific studies, it has impressive effects on immunity.

in short, calendula clears, cleanses + sanitizes spaces. it is an alterative to it can adjust between polarities.
ie: for menstrual support it can open and help expel congestion that causes delayed on set, clotting and pain but can also tone up the reproductive organs when they're too lax and bleeding excessively.
it will sweep out phlegm from places you didn't know it was hiding.
so don't be surprised to find it being expelled from here and there.
it opens and clears the 'tubes of the body' and can also open pores to induce sweating.

my reliable go to uses for calendula are:
-for eczema and weepy skin conditions (including both internal + topical use)
-for fungal infections that don't want to clear up (including candida)
-for sluggish lymph with cold digestion, low immunity and tendency to feel cold
-stomach ulcers caused by cold stagnant/apathetic digestion.

store tinctures out of direct sunlight and at moderate room temperatures. it does not hurt to refrigerate them but is not necessary.
