Ohio elderflower (grown by yours truly) and infused in a simple syrup makes a sophisticated and fun flavoring. Good in seltzer water and tea, great on yogurt and famed in cocktails.
Our personal favorite recipe is 1 ounce elderflower syrup, 2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice, 1.5 ounce vodka (or not) and seltzer water to taste.
The subtle flavor of elderflower is hard to describe - it has been called floral, grassy, fresh, musky, and honeyed. If you have tried the French elderflower liqueur St. Germain, you have a sense of the taste. Give ours a try and decide for yourself.
We grow our own elderflowers, harvest by hand and dry naturally.
