i wild foraged the plantain, roots and all, as i prepped my garden bed in the earliest spring on a new moon,

so they're fantastic. i washed them about a hundred times, tinctured half (new moon plantain tincture)

and flash dried the other half for this salve. 

the yarrow was the first of the season. it was flash dried. 

the calendula was homegrown by a fantastic organic herb farm nearby. 

i steeped all three herbs in grapeseed oil for 5+ months.

i made this batch in early summer in a giant glass jar. 

i keep it sealed in my outdoor office/workshop so it can experience the temperature changes of the seasons. 

in my experience, this is a hugely important aspect to making excellent salves. 

it very slowly extracts the medicinal properties into the grapeseed oil and leads to more potent and effective remedies. 

grapeseed oil is nice and thin. it helps things sink in deeply without being greasy. 

for this salve, i strained the plantain, yarrow + calendula out of the grapeseed oil

added + dissolved some beeswax for form

then added lavender essential oil. this salve is in 4oz screw top tins. 

this salve is great for general cuts, bruises, scrapes, bug bites, bee stings, 

poison ivy (see also new moon plantain tincture + jewel weed tincture), 

boils, cysts (message me), burns, blisters + rashes. 

i do have some pure plantain, yarrow + calendula infused grapeseed oil that is wonderful for healing skin issues from the outside while we use remedies to correct the inside. it's very good for very dry, acne prone skin and eczema/psoriasis. it's important to note that the root of these chronic issues is almost exclusively internal. message me for a consultation and we'll see what's going on. 

we have one of the only cultures on earth that doesn't treat cuts and bruises until they're gone. it's nice to help the body repair itself, even in small ways, so it doesn't have to waste time and resources. this is especially important for people that bleed and bruise easily to begin with, as their constitution clearly needs the extra help. self love doesn't have to be a grand gesture. stagnant blood can turn into 'bad blood' bad blood can turn into big problems.

yarrow 

is the master of blood. it can quickly stop bleeding and sanitize a space. it is the most perfect blood cleanser. 

it helps injuries hea1 themselves in a timely fashion. 

plantain

is another famous wound remedy. it's the most important drawing agent in western herbalism. it is a blood and lymphatic cleanser. it pulls venom out of spaces (which is why it's *so good* for bug bites and stings.) strongly encourages flesh to come together and heal from the inside out. it's a specific for flaky, weepy skin issues. for poison ivy it's absolutely indispensable. this is a good herb for everyone to know. it probably grows in your yard and it's unbelievably safe and useful. 

calendula

is a slightly warming, cleansing lymphatic herb. it benefits !mmunity (this word is now censored and they'll close my shop) 

it's been historically used to treat and prevent !nfection in wounds. it discourages scarring by keeping the hea1ing space in good condition as it mends. 

lavender

is a cooling stimulant. it benefits the capillaries and how blood moves through them. 

i mostly added it because it makes the salve smell nice and familiar, but lavender oil has been used on minor grievances for centuries.
