stinging nettle is a staple of western herbalism. it's high in plant proteins and helps the body digest, process + utilize proteins effectively. eating too much meat, even if you feel like it digests well, can leave byproducts in the body. those byproducts collect at the joints, kidneys + urinary systems, leading to arthritic pain, kidney stones + urination troubles for men. stinging nettle is also a specific for building blood, wasting disorders + restoring function where it has been lost. 

stinging nettle tea is the best remedy for allergies. people buy a lot of stinging nettle tincture for this purpose and it just doesn’t seem to work as well. use fresh or high quality nettle, simmer lidded for 20 mins and allow to steep until cool. then do not strain it yet fridge it all day or overnight until the tea turns deep emerald green. it usually takes 12-24 hours. THEN strain and drink hot or cold 1-2 cups a day for allergy season.

i do have an allergy support tincture (reishi, wild cherry bark, goldenrod + nettle) that primarily works to help balance histamine responses. it is a lovely long term support to use regularly to help work on root issues. i say ‘help’ work on root issues because allergies and histamine imbalances can be constitutional, but can also be managed meaningfully with diet and lifestyle shifts. this is not often easy to figure out on your own, especially if there are complex histamine issues at play- which is becoming increasingly problematic. i’d be so glad to do a deep dive with you.

this is a wild foraged full spectrum tincture 3:1:1 of leaf+root+seed, picked and tinctured fresh at their respective peak seasons. anywhere from 5-10 drops 1-3x a day or a dropper full 1-2x a day is reasonable. i do have leaf, seed and root tinctured separately if you are looking for one in particular.

it's a great companion tincture for 'the hermit' restorative reishi tea blend,
the balance blend tincture or deep immune support teas or tinctures

-low thyroid (add ashwagandha + black walnut hull)
nettle seed in particular is excellent for kidney deficiency and is excellent adrenal support. 

i have several reishi based teas that contain wild foraged nettle seed.
i have dried leaf + seed in my apothecary for tea. it's great to combine with burdock root
for bursitis or nutrient deficiency.
