it took about a year and a half to make this hair oil.
it’s a small batch.

wild foraged alaskan birch bark long steeped in
organic argan oil (deodorized)
stinging nettle + nettle seed long steeped in
grapeseed oil
with rosemary essential oil
+ organic castor oil (deodorized)

100% all natural. very quality product.
i’ve been using this myself for a couple months to test it out.
i use a few drops to smooth my hair out for everyday use.
a couple days a week i massage a dropper full or two into my scalp and through all of my hair
and let it work for 12-24 hours before shampooing it out. (looks greasy. i do this on WFH days when i'm staying in)
it has a nice natural smell that is not overwhelming.
i get migraines and hate weird scents, so i made sure of it.

health is rooted in your insides.
there are several reasons that can lead to weak hair/skin/nails, and i’m always glad to do a consultation to look at the bigger picture.
but it is undeniable that people throughout history and across cultures have used external measures to benefit their hair health.
i’ve had a number of requests over the years to make a hair product, so i thought about it a lot and decided on this formula.
i think it turned out great. you can’t argue with great ingredients.

i’ve read that birch can really restore and strengthen your hair. it’s been known to help hair grow longer and stronger. in winterous regions, birch has been used in so many different ways to support overall health and vitality. there is so much lore surrounding this tree. i do have some birch on our land, but had a good connection with a forager in alaska that had excellent freshly peeled birch bark. i bought quite a bit and steeped it in organic, virgin, deodorized argan oil. argan oil is a high quality oil that is moisturizing and nourishing.
it’s very commonly used for overall hair health.

stinging nettle + seed has been used to restore original hair color and strengthen roots. it is a known kidney tonic and i use it reliably (internally) for this indication. in TCM and from a holistic point of view, premature greying and thinning in hair is often a sign of weak kidneys. it may be constitutional. it may be the result of going through something serious. either way, i’ve read stories over the years of stinging nettle being used externally to restore hair color. it’s an intensely nutritious remedy and i would suspect it to strengthen roots and potentially catalyze regrowth where hair has been lost. nettle has been used to ‘restore function where it was lost’ (matthew wood) and has proven itself in many ways.
i couldn’t help myself. i’d like to see if it works for hair loss/balding. i steep my nettle + seed in grapeseed oil because it is deeply penetrating.
i also use nettle + seed oil in both of my pain salves.

i added rosemary essential oil for a lovely fresh scent and because it benefits circulation, especially to the scalp. rosemary has an affinity for the head and has been used for certain patterns of headaches. it has a long history of being good for memory and focus. it is a main ingredient in my ‘concentrate concentrate’ tincture and i have found it to be reliably potent. it's the rosemary that makes your scalp a bit tingly when you first put it on. it doesn't last long. that's just the increased circulation showing up promptly.

there is a small amount of deodorized organic castor oil in this formula. i’ve heard that it can do wonders for your hair and scalp. i’ve heard some ‘scientific’ claims that it doesn’t actually lead to hair growth. all i can say is that i have used castor oil externally *a lot* and think it’s a genuinely magical medicinal resource. i regularly recommend using castor oil packs for managing injuries, pain/inflammation. it is a heavy oil, so i only used a small amount to catalyze and synergize the rest of the formula. i can totally see different hair types having different feelings about castor oil. if you have really thick hair, you’ll probably love it. if you have thinner hair (like me) a tiny bit goes a long way. wrapping your head in a hot towel for awhile after applying this hair oil would be big bonus points.

i have phenomenal salves that i take great pride in. making quality + effective external remedies is really important to me. they are underutilized.
this is my first attempt at an external remedy for balding, thinning hair and loss of hair color. please reach out with your results!

if you are trying to reactivate hair follicles in bald spots, rub some oil on the spots and add a hot towel or a microwavable heating pad on top.
you could also use the hair oil directly on the scalp, then put a castor oil pack over it. (i do this with my medicinal salves and it works great)
just dampen a clean rag in castor oil and lay it over the scalp, then put a warm heating pad on top. you could also put a pot of water on the stove, heat it up and dip a towel in it to make it hot. you can redip to freshen it up when it cools down.

internal remedies for scalp issues:
i’d like to mention that if your hair and scalp are super dry and flakey
or if your hair and scalp tend to be really oily-
this whole spectrum of issues is reliably remedied with burdock root,
which normalizes oil secretions in your skin at large. it works wonderfully well.
it’s a food grade herb (the ancestral OG carrot) so super safe.
you can do tincture or tea. fancy grocery stores often have it in the produce section.
it’s pretty common if you’d like to peek around and wild forage some.
just make sure the location is unpolluted.

if your hair/skin/nails are really weak and brittle, reach out for a consultation.
this can be from a number of issues. if your diet + lifestyle are really solid, consider a homeopathic silica remedy. it could be a simple deficiency. it’s not a good sign to have weak/irregular nails, so i would look into it.

if you have any questions at all or if you're in need of a consultation- please reach out via messages! always glad to help. xx
