meadowsweet has a long history of safe herbal use.
it is from the rose family. i grew these meadowsweet flowers from seed (strictly medicinal seeds) and after a few years they grew into a lovely hedge. they are sweet and delicate.
i tinctured the flowers fresh in vodka.
meadowsweet is a salicylate (same active ingredient in aspirin)
and though uncommon, does need to be avoided for people with aspirin allergies.

in all honesty, i do not have personal experience with meadowsweet. this is my first time releasing this remedy and i would appreciate hearing any personal experiences you've had with meadowsweet. the following profile for meadowsweet is from trusted sources, not from personal experience working with the plant.

GI DISTRESS/ULCERS/ACIDITY ISSUES
meadowsweet is a slightly astringent, cooling remedy that is said to be reliable for gut inflammation, ulceration and troubles with acidity. it is said to be excellent for balancing stomach acid, whether it be too strong or too weak. matthew wood, a main influence of mine, says it's an excellent and safe replacement for OTC antacids. it seems to protect the gut lining and quietly work to repair it.
it is said that low, persistent doses (10-15 drops) are optimal for mending the gut and addressing ulcers.

PAIN MANAGEMENT
some herbalist like to use it for arthritis and gout. i take a different route (daily detox tincture works exquisitely for gout and arthritis from needing to liver/blood detox. the joint support tincture is my go to for arthritis from lack of lubrication in the joints)
*but* if meadowsweet checks several boxes in a person's presentation, it would be a great remedy to try. so for example, if you have arthritis or gout, chronic gut inflammation or ulcers and also struggle with persistent hypo or hyperacidity issues- go for meadowsweet. as long as you aren't sensitive to aspirin, it's a very safe and gentle choice that can offer a lot of relief. it should begin to work in the moment, but with patience and persistent, low dosing it should lead to deeper relief and resolution.

store tinctures out of direct sunlight and at moderate room temperatures. it does not hurt to refrigerate them but is not necessary.
