Myco-Spikes can be pushed into small containers or garden areas made up of substrates that contain predominantly woody material such as mulch or hardwood chips.
MycoSpikes can be pushed into existing mulch bed areas and may thrive in those conditions. However, to increase the likelihood of a good yield, you will want to build a lasagna bed.
In order to create a lasagna bed, lay down 1 in alternating layers of woody material and nitrogen rich material such as grass clippings or, ideally, straw. Push in the pegs every one square foot. Keep the beds moist but not flooded. If planting in a container, make sure it is well drained.
Wine cap mushrooms prefer to grow and dappled sunlight, such as you would find on a forest floor. They will, however, grow and shaded areas or full sun areas near garden plants, of which they have a symbiotic relationship, improving soil conditions.
Yields will begin a year after planting, unless planted early in the spring. Avoid frost.
