Fragrant tea olive ( Osmanthus fragrans Lour.) is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with a dense habit in the Oleaceae (olive) family and native to Asia. This plant typically grows to a height of 10 to 20 feet and has extremely fragrant flowers that appear in the spring and sporadically in the fall. The scientific name comes from the Greek words for fragrant (osme) and flower (anthos). is a medicinal plant distributed widely in some Asian countries including Japan and Korea and southwestern China. It has been used traditionally for the treatment of weakened vision, halitosis, panting, asthma, cough, toothache, stomachache, diarrhea, rheumatism, physique pain and hepatitis.

Mad for Mushrooms is dedicated to the proliferation and learning of wild foods and natural ecosystems. Predominantly foraged, I focus on offering unusual, and wildly delicious foodstuffs for regional chefs and restaurants. Collaboration is essential to the work, outside of foraging and sharing knowledge, I am interested in product development, and alternative applications of biomimetics. However, when indicated, certain items have been successfully wild-grown in my organic, vegan, urban garden to offer a greater variety.
