Fresh 2024 pawpaw (Asimina triloba) seed collected in Kentucky. This seed is from 'common grade,' orchard-grown pawpaw trees that are healthy and productive, with a wide range of cold hardy genetics. It will produce sweet, edible fruit, and is also ideal for reforestation, ZSB butterfly propagation, wildlife use, and pawpaws intended to be used for rootstock for grafting scions onto. We also sell scions for many rare and superior pawpaw cultivars.

We ship pawpaw seeds when safe to do so, as pawpaw seed should not freeze solid. Our seed is always kept moist, and is undergoing cold stratification in winter 2025.

We recommend planting 1 inch deep in seedling containers in rich potting soil first and then planting these in the field or yard. Seedling trees must be grown in shade until 30 inches tall (year 2 or 3) and not in full sun and must never dry out. If grown in pots, the pots must never freeze solid and should stay moist. You can direct seed, however germination rates will depend on soil conditions, skill of the planters, soil moisture levels, etc. These trees are very resilient and form multi-trunk thickets if allowed to sucker.
