Another fantastic treat provided by the North Woods of Minnesota! Wild plums and pink knotweed come together for a tasty anti-inflammatory tincture.
I used the plums to mask the slightly bitter flavor of the knotweed blossoms. Extra antioxidants never hurt.
The knotweed has been used for centuries in traditional ethnomedicines as an anti-inflammatory remedy. It helps ease the aches of arthritis in small joints; fingers, toes, wrists, feet. Not only the aches and pains, but it also helps with the swollen, inflamed joints as it is a natural diuretic.
This won't bring much relief to deeper joints such as the hips and back. You are better off trying a different product if that is where your pains are.
This tincture should not be used if you are pregnant or breast feeding as there have been no long-term clinical studies.
If you are on blood thinners which require a frequent INR draw such as Coumadin, you should consult with your doctor prior to use as there is natural vitamin K in knotweed and it can have a small effect on your INR blood results.
