This is the true white sage, Salvia apiana and it's very different than the common sage sold in garden centers for culinary purposes. If you want smudge sticks, you should be growing this variety.
We spent a long time finding actual white sage and our seeds for this are/will be harvested sustainably.
Wild white sage populations are currently under intense threat by development, smudge stick poaching, climate change, drought, and wildfire. It's very possible this could become extinct if not properly managed.
The plant is a perennial in the right zones, but for us northerners, you can grow this in a pot to overwinter. To overwinter, the plant requires excellent light, we keep ours under a strong set of LEDs.
