.Bring the beauty of native forests to your landscape with Yellow Buckeye (Aesculus flava) seeds — a magnificent eastern hardwood tree celebrated for its brilliant fall color, showy spring blooms, and wildlife value. Each seed is freshly wild-harvested from naturally growing parent trees in the Appalachian region.
The Yellow Buckeye is one of North America’s most striking native trees, producing smooth brown seeds (“buckeyes”) encased in light tan husks. In maturity, it reaches heights of 60–80 feet, with palmately compound leaves and clusters of golden-yellow flowers that attract pollinators. Perfect for reforestation, habitat restoration, native plant gardens, or collectors of native seed species.
Key Features:
Authentic Aesculus flava (Yellow Buckeye) seeds
Ethically and sustainably wild-harvested in small batches
Ideal for native plant restoration or ornamental planting
Grown without chemicals or fertilizers
Attracts pollinators and supports native biodiversity
Packaged in eco-friendly resealable kraft pouches
Seeds arrive naturally air-dried and ready for cold stratification or direct sowing, depending on season. Each pack contains approximately 5–10 large buckeye seeds, sealed in a resealable kraft pouch and shipped via USPS in eco-conscious packaging.
.Keep seeds in a cool, slightly damp, and dark place until you are ready to plant. Do not allow seeds to dry out, as this will negatively impact germination rates. For long-term storage, refrigerate in a breathable container (not airtight) to maintain moisture balance and prevent mold. When properly stored, seeds remain viable for up to one full growing season.
To germinate, cold stratify the seeds by storing them slightly damp in a sealed bag with sand in the refrigerator for 60–90 days. Then plant 1–2 inches deep in fertile, well-drained soil outdoors or in pots. Ideal for spring planting after the final frost.
Seeds can also be used in nature education, forest ecology studies, or traditional crafts, as the glossy buckeyes have long been valued for their smooth, ornamental appearance.
WEATHER UPDATE 1/22/26: Due to the large winter storm impacting the region, order fulfillment and delivery may be delayed. Orders will be fulfilled and shipped as soon as possible, please have paitence as we dig out.
