Cleaned & Cured Black Walnuts in the Shell
Wild gathered in West Georgia
These Black Walnuts come from the old trees on our land. We collect them by hand, clean them and cure them. Everything is done in small batches with respect for the trees and the squirrels.
Black Walnuts have a deep and bold taste that sets them apart from the common English Walnut. They are naturally rich in healthy fats, protein, and minerals. You can crack and snack, or use them in baking, salads, roasted vegetables, and fall and winter recipes.
One pound is about two dozen nuts. The shells are very hard, so a sturdy nutcracker is important. We recommend soaking overnight before attempting to crack. This makes the nuts and shells more pliable
Store the nuts in a cool and dry place. They keep well in the shell for a year or more. Once cracked, the nutmeats are best kept in the refrigerator or freezer to maintain freshness.
These pair especially well with our Elderberry Tea, Local Honey, and preserves for holiday baking and gifting.
