Truffles

<p>We've trained our dog Eva,&nbsp;a Lagotto Romangolo, to be a truffle hunting dog, starting&nbsp;in the Western North Carolina region. This year is her second truffle season and we are having so much fun finding truffles together. So far, it has&nbsp;been a beautiful journey filled with&nbsp;learning, sniffing, trusting, and finding.</p><p class="ql-align-right">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp;species of truffle Eva has&nbsp;found so far is called the&nbsp;<em>Imaia gigantea</em>.&nbsp;Imaia is pronounced “ee-ma-ee-uh”</p><p class="ql-align-right">&nbsp;This&nbsp;truffle is named after the Japanese mycologist, Sanshi Imai.&nbsp;So far,&nbsp;this truffle has only been found in the Appalachian mountains, and Japan.</p><p class="ql-align-right">Trying to describe the scent and flavor with words cannot do it justice, but its aroma is intoxicating,&nbsp;soft like moss, yet&nbsp;at the same time, sharp like aged&nbsp;cheese.</p><p class="ql-align-right">For more info on the truffles, our training process, and more, visit wildgoods.org</p><p class="ql-align-right"><br></p><p class="ql-align-right"><br></p><p class="ql-align-right"><strong>GRADE A - 80 per oz, very little damage, larger</strong></p><p class="ql-align-right"><strong>GRADE B - 60 per oz, cuts due to paw and insect damage</strong></p><p class="ql-align-right"><br></p>

sidenote:
Just because a truffle is harvested in Appalachia, doesn't make it an Appalachian truffle - If you are looking for Tuber canaliculatum, keep looking! Most people hunting these in the wild are using their finds to inoculate truffle trees for cultivation. Hopefully soon they will be available for eating.
We hope to find some productive T. can patches ourselves, but in the meantime have been busy with hunting the Blue Ridge Truffle - Imaia gigantea.

Fram Heirloom Aloe Vera leaves develop from a 24-year cultivation process to increase the sugar content of the gel inside the leaves. The flavor of the gel in the leaves is a cross between refreshing spring water and water with a hint of sugar. The leaves are cut to about 12 inches long and wrapped in plastic to protect them. Ice packs are included to keep the gel and meat at a cooler temperature. Upon receiving your leaf, put the leaf in the refrigerator until use to keep it cooler than room temperature. Our stock quantity changes because these precious plants take time to grow the leaves. The good thing is these amazing plants always will grow more leaves! Review the Fall 2025 photos & video of our aloes. Included is a Fall 2025 photo of Grandma, the mother/grandmother of all the aloes in our nursery! Grandma is still alive, growing, producing pups and flowers.

Barbadensis aloe vera plants originated from the dry regions of our world. Fram Heirloom Aloe Vera plants originate from "Grandma", a 24-year-old aloe from Arizona. Grandma was just 4 inches tall when I brought her home. She is still thriving, producing, and flowering in the nursery, even with her massive size. Fram Heirloom Aloe Vera plants have been grown with love to produce a higher sugar content than most aloes used in edible aloe products. This store sells the large leaves. You will receive much instruction on using the gel of the leaves to infuse in distilled liquors and for eating.
